Little children in school are prone to getting sick. This is because they are so bent to touching things and bringing them to their mouths. With these little ones keen to exploring things all around them, their hands can make contact on dirty doorknobs, table surfaces, railings, floors, rock, trees, leaves, soil, clay and stones. If their hands are unwashed, germs and bacteria can cling to their fingers and nails. When they bite or lick their hands off, they can ingest these germs into their system and become seriously ill. Thus, it becomes important that classrooms be equipped with handwashing areas.
We do know that most classrooms aren’t equipped with plumbing systems. To address this problem and face the need for clean hands for the schoolchildren, the use of portable sinks is highly recommended. Portable sinks are great in the sense that they are a complete handwashing system. There’s the basin, the faucet and the cabinet. Clean water is provided for by a stand-by gallon of fresh water and the used water is conveniently collected by another waste gallon within the shelf. The cabinet also serves as a storage system where cleaning supplies can be safely stored. There’s a locking device that will keep the students from accessing the toxic detergents and the cleansers. The great thing about the portable sinks is that they are a mobile unit. They can be removed from the indoor classroom and brought outside when children are playing sports or doing outdoor exercises or activities, making it accessible for them to wash their hands clean.
